Why is Dual Coding Important?
Dual coding is a fantastic feature that can significantly improve your work in many ways. By enabling two or more people to collaborate on the same game simultaneously, it creates opportunities for efficient workflows and better results. With dual coding, VolleyStation users can explore new possibilities for creativity and productivity. This feature offers endless ways to work more effectively and achieve outstanding results. Here are some examples of how to make the most of dual coding.
Live match
This is the most basic and most attractive use of dual coding. With more than one scout working on the game simultaneously, you can collect more accurate data. For example, one person can code the game while another can add directions, fix mistakes, or include custom codes. This teamwork helps create better reports and heat maps in real-time, which can be a significant advantage when trying to win the game. This system works best with streaming set up during a match, allowing the assistant to view past plays when adding their directions.
You can also use it to analyze in real time. For example, the assistant on the bench can run reports on a live match. It gives you more possibilities than bench mode, as using all versions of VolleyStation is a stronger analytical tool during a game. It is important to remember that the number of connections is not limited to two. You can have two coders and an analyst working at the same time.
Post-match analysis
Correcting matches can be a time-consuming task, but dual coding makes it much faster. You can work on the same game with others or focus on separate matches individually. Once you're done, others can export files independently and get the completed match after disconnecting.
It’s also useful after the game when you review and map plays. With dual coding, you can share the workload by dividing tasks among multiple people. For example, one person can mark all the serves while another handles the attacks, making the process more efficient.
Another way to take advantage of this feature is while doing video reports. All connected users can work on the same report. This is very useful while preparing video montages and using flags to mark the plays we want to analyze or show the players. Each analyst or coach can look just for a particular play and mark it with their color. This way, work can be done much faster.
Setting up Dual Coding
Setting up this feature is easy. All you need to do is get the IP address of your main coder computer, which will look like this: http://192.168.3.2:28354. This is the same address used when connecting a bench tablet, and you can get it from the connect tablet pop-up within a match. This address must be provided in application settings to connect to the main coders’ computer.
After the connection, your application will restart, and you can see all the data from the computer you connected to. Then, you are ready to collaborate and improve your live coding and analysis work.
